TAKING FORM JADE STUDIO
I make objects of adornment which seem simple but which hold a mystery and depth not always seen in today’s jewelry. I do this in authentic natural materials, jade and shell, which I find particularly suited to this purpose.
I can claim some knowledge of the history of object making from my previous education (two degrees in studio sculpture,) and employment installing art objects in major museums. Handling neolithic Chinese jades is profoundly meaningful to a contemporary carver like myself.
My aim is to bring the richness and depth I’ve seen in older art to today’s throwaway world. My hope is that this will resonate with those who want more from their jewelry than shiny gold and sparkly gemstones, and will make them more connected to the quiet beauty of the ages.

Building furniture, stretchers for painters, jewelry benchwork. Mount making and exhibition installation at museums in New York and the Harvard Art Museums, handling mind-blowing ancient Chinese jades close up and personal.
