BEADS and BRAIDS

I do a lot of work on the beads, and Stephanie works tirelessly dyeing silk threads

and hand braiding them into beautiful kumihimo cords. The black threads are dyed with synthetic dyes, and the colors ar from natural plant dyes.

I make some beads from scratch, others by re-shaping and re-finishing commercial beads.

(I can often buy shiny round beads in beautiful material for less than the rough would cost.)

I ream the holes to the precise inside diameter that will grip the silk cord just right. I love having a glowing satin finish on the beads rather than a bright glassy polish.
