BEADS and BRAIDS

Many people could tell you that beads can be addictive.

I do more work on the beads than I should, and Stephanie works tirelessly on beautiful kumihimo cords. All but the black threads are dyed with natural plant dyes and the braiding is done by hand.

I make some beads from scratch, others by re-shaping and re-finishing commercial beads.

(I can often buy beads in beautiful material for less than the rough would cost me.)

I re-carve the beads and ream the holes to the precise inside diameter that will grip the silk cord just right.

I love having a glowing satin finish on the beads rather than a bright glassy polish.
